LAWSON, A. JohnPosted Jul 7, 2021 4:09 PM Passed away on his way to the family cottage on Saturday, July 3, 2021, with his loving wife Ruth at his side. John Lawson was in his 87th year, and was the proud father of John (Karen) Lawson, Sue (John) Underhill and Julie (Dan) Timmer. Beloved grandfather of Samantha, Sydney, Jack, Buzzy, Jacob, Libby, Maddie, and Abby. Older brother to (late) Michael Ivan Lawson. John served for over twenty years in the Canadian Armed Forces, advancing to Lieutenant Colonel, before transitioning to a career in the insurance industry. Friends and family will be received at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Saturday July 10, 2021 from 2:30 –3:30 p.m. A private family service will follow at 4pm, with livestream available to the public. John had been in long term care for about two or three years. He had mobility problems and his wife Ruth was unable to care for him at home. Aside from this he was mentally alert when I last spoke with him a couple of months ago.
