From: Gerry Wharton Sent: March 15, 2024 11:27 PM To: Bill Lynn Subject: Re: CMR 1952 Mise à jour / Update 2024.03.15 Bill…… Thank you. There can’t be many of us in the “still in contact” list. I had another fall last week that peeled some skin on two places off my right elbow. I went to Emergency at 08:30 and left at 18:30. In all that time I only spent at the most 20 minutes in the waiting area. I was immediately questioned on how I fell and it was clear that they were more interested in why I fell rather than what happened. I was subjected to two ECGs. numerous blood tests, an IV drip for magnesium (Who would have ever thought?) plus others that I have forgotten. All covered by OHIP. My wife Heather had a fall in the US and spent about two hours in a hospital there and the bill was US $ 1600. Thank God for out of country insurance. Thanks for keeping our lines of contact intact. …….Gerry On Mar 16, 2024, at 09:17, Bill Lynn Hi Gerry, The Found list on our website shows 35, but I have not really checked that number lately. I have 37 on the email list, but some are widows and some whose email keeps working after death (like Facebook). Interesting fall report. Did they come up with a cause? Would it be okay to post it on the class website? Bill Lynn From: Gerry Wharton Sent: March 16, 2024 6:22 PM To: Bill Lynn Subject: Re: CMR 1952 Mise à jour / Update 2024.03.15 Bill…… Thank you again for all your endeavours. My doctor reduced one of my meds but I have not yet heard from a cardiologist so it’s a bit early but yes share what ever as you feel needed. …..Gerry On Mar 16, 2024, at 19:23, wblynn@wblynn.ca wrote: Hi Gerry, After I passed out on my doctor’s examining table in February a year ago, they found heart arrythmia and gave me pills to thin blood and reduce blood pressure (after a day in the hospital undergoing tests, at no cost to me). A few weeks later I could barely make it across the street with groceries, and my blood pressure was about 80. They took me off the blood pressure pills in stages, and now I can bring home the groceries without stopping to rest every few feet. So it seems that medication can have unintended effects. Bill |

From: Terry Jones Sent: December 24, 2023 2:19 AM To: Bill Lynn Subject: Re: CMR 1952 Mise à jour / Update 2023.12.22 Hi again, Bill. I have to acknowledge that this year’s losses are thankfully small, although the total aggregate loss from our original 225 is certainly not terribly encouraging, is it? My move from Richmond to Salmon Arm, in addition to rejoining me with the proverbial ‘love of my life’, has completely changed my medical support, removing me from probably the second or third best centre of medical expertise in Canada to a much more limited capability, nonetheless populated with a surprisingly adequate body of professionals and facilities. My own GP is a mature, experienced woman, appropriately highly regarded locally, and gives me growing comfort and confidence with every encounter. My diagnosis of dementia is still under review. She and I had a lengthy session on it this week and are to meet with the local expert in two weeks’ time. I look forward to, even enjoy, these sessions. They continue to shore up my self-confidence and leave me eager for more, so, I no longer fear dementia, and have reason to believe I might ‘kick’ the potential entirely. My age ‘goal’ has long been to reach the ‘nineties,’ and I’ve just under two years to do that. However, now that Marge and I are together again, and she’s only 85, I may have to readjust my goal, don’t you think? Thanks kindly for responding, Bill and, again, `Happy Holidays' VDV All the best, Terry |
